Breast Lift

Over time, factors such as aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and gravity can cause the breasts to lose their shape and firmness. A breast lift addresses these concerns by removing excess skin, tightening the surrounding tissue, and repositioning the nipples to a more youthful position.

While a breast lift does not significantly change breast size, it can be combined with augmentation or reduction procedures for enhanced results. This surgery helps improve breast symmetry, contour, and overall confidence.

What Is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. This procedure restores a youthful contour and enhances confidence, addressing issues caused by aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, or genetics.

Who Is a Candidate for a Breast Lift?

A breast lift may be the right choice if:

  • Your breasts sag or droop.

  • Your nipples point downward or sit below the breast crease.

  • You have loose wrinkly breast skin.

  • You’re in good overall health and have realistic expectations.

  • You’re not currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

Benefits of a Breast Lift

A breast lift offers several benefits, helping to restore a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing breast appearance. Which includes:

  • Restored Firmness: Achieve a more youthful and uplifted breast appearance.

  • Improved Shape: Correct asymmetry or reshape uneven breasts.

  • Elevating the Nipple: Brings the nipple up the most projecting portion of the breast.

  • Enhanced Confidence: Feel more comfortable in your clothing and swimwear.

The Breast Lift Procedure

The breast lift procedure is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes 2-4 hours. Here’s what to expect:

Consultation: During your consultation,  Dr. Clarke will discuss your goals and recommend the best technique for your unique anatomy.

Incision: Common incision patterns include around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, or in an anchor shape. The choice depends on the degree of lift needed.

Reshaping: Excess skin is removed, and the remaining tissue is reshaped and lifted. The nipples may also be repositioned for a more natural look.

Closure: The incisions are closed with sutures, and bandages are applied.

Recovery and Aftercare

Immediate recovery from a breast lift typically involves mild swelling and soreness, which are normal during the first few days. Most patients can return to work and resume light activities within one to two weeks, but strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for four to six weeks to allow proper healing. As swelling gradually subsides over the following months, the final results become more visible, revealing a firmer, more youthful breast contour.
